About the Position
Kallstrom Automotive Services is a growing independent repair shop in Coon Rapids focused on quality repairs, honest diagnostics, clear communication, and long-term customer trust.
We are not trying to be the fastest or cheapest shop. We are building a premium repair facility where the work is done correctly, technicians are supported, inspections are documented clearly, and the team takes pride in doing things the right way.
We are looking for an experienced technician who wants to be part of that.
This may be a strong A-level technician, or it may be a solid B-level technician with the right mindset, accountability, curiosity, and desire to keep improving.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair vehicles accurately and efficiently
- Perform electrical, drivability, maintenance, steering/suspension, brake, fluid service, and general repair work
- Perform digital inspections with clear findings and useful photos
- Document recommendations in a way the advisor and customer can understand
- Follow repair information and manufacturer procedures when needed
- Communicate clearly when more testing, parts, or time are needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Take ownership of repair quality and help prevent comebacks
- Work as part of a professional, accountable team
Requirements
- Automotive repair experience
- Strong mechanical ability
- Experience with domestic and Asian vehicles
- Ability to perform maintenance, inspections, and general repair work accurately
- Ability to use scan tools, repair information, wiring diagrams, and basic testing equipment
- Diagnostic mindset and ability to work through problems without guessing
- Some diagnostic experience beyond basic parts replacement
- Ability to perform digital inspections and document findings clearly
- Ability to communicate clearly with the service advisor
- Valid driver’s license
- Professional attitude and consistent attendance
- Willingness to follow shop standards and repair procedures
- Willingness to learn, improve, and be coached
- Pride in doing clean, correct repair work
Preferred, Not Required
- ASE certifications
- Strong electrical diagnostic experience
- Strong drivability diagnostic experience
- Advanced testing ability with scopes, meters, pressure testing, smoke testing, and other diagnostic equipment
- Strong existing digital inspection habits
- Spanish speaking ability
Compensation
Pay is based on experience, independence, diagnostic ability, productivity, documentation quality, attitude, and fit with our standards.
Typical range: $35–$50/hr
We are willing to pay well for the right person, but we care about more than technical ability alone. The right technician for this shop needs skill, pride, accountability, communication, and a desire to be part of a high-standard team.
