POSITION SUMMARY:
The Driver Helper is required to ride along with the licensed driver and assist with grease bin pick-ups. In this role, the helper must be flexible to work different shifts and hours, as well as be capable of performing physical labour tasks.
Job Type: Temporary (approx. 6 months)
Approx. Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, approx. 32-40/week
Shift time: Start/End times vary
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with pick-up/drop-offs at customer locations.
- Assist with rural grease routes.
- Safely direct driver into correct positions, making sure to avoid obstacles.
- Accompany drivers and help navigate routes and coordinate stops.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks.
- Troubleshoot problems to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Work safely at all times and report any unsafe conditions to the supervisors.
- Travel weekly throughout MB and into Ontario (Thunder Bay). 1-3-day trips (longer if delayed)
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to travel – 2-3 days away
- Valid Class 5 License
- Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs
- Ability to climb in and out of truck
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking
- Ability to do overnight travelling throughout the week.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Lengthy trips in AZ/DZ transport vehicle in shared space
- Temperature variation, Hot/cold
- Weather conditions when working outside
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have the ability to lift, push and pull 50+ pounds
- Required to bend, twist, push/pull and lean
- Climbing into and out of transport truck
- Extended periods of sitting, standing and walking
