Join our dynamic transportation team as a Dispatcher Lead Driver, where you will play a pivotal role in coordinating freight movement, managing fleet operations, and ensuring seamless delivery services. This energetic position offers the opportunity to lead dispatching efforts, optimize logistics processes, and support supply chain efficiency. As a key communicator between drivers, clients, and internal teams, you’ll drive operational excellence while fostering a positive and safety-focused work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead dispatching activities by assigning routes and schedules to drivers using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries.
- Coordinate freight pickups and deliveries through effective communication with drivers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems and phone etiquette.
- Utilize transportation planning tools and analysis skills to troubleshoot issues, re-route drivers as needed, and improve overall fleet efficiency.
- Maintain accurate data entry for shipping & receiving logs, freight documentation, and dispatch records within AS400 and other logistics platforms.
- Oversee fleet management activities including vehicle maintenance scheduling, compliance with safety standards, and utilization of transportation management systems like Oracle TMS.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to streamline shipping processes and enhance supply chain operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment; familiarity with freight operations is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, transportation management systems (TMS), and supply chain principles.
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Demonstrated analysis skills for transportation planning, route optimization, and problem-solving in fast-paced settings.
- Proficiency in data entry using platforms such as AS400 or Oracle Transportation Management; experience with SyteLine is a plus.
- Ability to manage shipping & receiving processes, fleet management tasks, and coordinate with 3PL providers effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation related to freight, shipping schedules, and dispatch logs.
