The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement is recruiting a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Infrastructure Planning and Priorities branch as the Director of Asset Management. The Asset Management team conducts assessments of government’s diverse portfolio to measure building condition and inform the prioritization of maintenance investments.

The Director of Asset Management reports to the Executive Director, Infrastructure Planning and Priorities. The successful candidate will:

oversee the work of internal and external engineering and architectural staff and consultants that inspect, assess, review and approve building condition assessment reports, code infraction reports, and maintenance updates;

prepare requests for proposals, complete technical bid evaluations and contract management, ensuring building condition assessment projects are delivered in accordance with approved budget, scope and schedule;

educate and persuade stakeholders on approaches to building condition assessment; and,

develop policy, contracts and governance processes for onboarding new team members and ministries and agencies to SaskBuilds and Procurement’s standards and practices for assessing facility condition.

The successful candidate will possess a degree in engineering. A specialty in civil/environmental, mechanical, or electrical engineering with a concentration in building systems would be an asset. The successful candidate will have five (5) years of experience in a related field of work and will be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate will bring an understanding of facility development, engineering and construction techniques, including but not limited to: component selection, cost estimating, life cycle management and facility management, building assessment and building codes. Complementing this, you will have experience in the design, construction and/or operation of building systems.

As this position educates and persuades stakeholders on approaches to building condition renewal management, the successful candidate will require well-developed skills in leadership, problem solving, negotiation, interpersonal influence, and corporate effectiveness.
