CREW LEADER – HABITAT RESTORATION TECHNICIAN

North West Florida Endangered Species (Reticulated Flatwood Salamander& Florida Bog Frog) Habitat Improvement Project

Positions Available:

  • Crew Leader position available : Must be reliable, have good organizational and communication skills, experience working outdoors, and a valid driver’s license (commercially insurable with no suspensions within 1 year).
  • Experience landscaping, Chain saw certification, weed eater/brush cutter experience is required and supervising a crew required. Herbicide licensing a plus (natural areas, aquatic)
  • Oversee a crew of (4) four Habitat Restoration Technician Crew Members
  • Excellent organizational skill required
  • Project duration will be from May 2026-September 202

Community Training Works’ Young American Conservation Corps program and their land managing agency partners in Milton Florida.

Description of Project Work:

  • Work alongside biologists to improve Reticulated Flatwood Salamander and Florida Bog Frog habitat.
  • Project work will consist of removing woody vegetation from selected Reticulated Flatwoods Salamander ephemeral ponds with the use of power equipment such as chainsaws and brush cutters. Application of herbicides.
  • Perform daily tool maintenance and equipment repairs as needed.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be between 18 and 40 years of age.
  • Must be able to carry at least 45 pounds and hike through various terrains for 1 to 4 miles.
  • Must be enthusiastic about working outdoors and have a respect for nature.
  • Able to work in extremely hot, humid, buggy, and wet conditions around insects and wildlife.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Must have reliable transportation to meet at the Milton, FL site each morning
