Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the dealership, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and timely completion of accounting processes. This role works closely with dealership leadership to provide financial insights, improve processes, and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee all dealership accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, vehicle accounting, and general ledger functions.
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and dealership performance reports.
Ensure accurate posting and reconciliation of vehicle sales, leases, finance reserves, commissions, and manufacturer programs.
Review and maintain dealership schedules, including floorplan, prepaid expenses, accruals, and inventory reconciliations.
Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and working capital requirements.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Coordinate with external auditors, manufacturers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders as required.
Analyze dealership profitability and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within accounting operations.
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, dealership agreements, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within an automotive dealership environment.
Previous experience as a Dealership Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar leadership role.
Strong knowledge of dealership accounting processes, including vehicle sales, inventory, floorplan accounting, and manufacturer reporting.
Experience with dealership management systems (PBS preferred).
Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and internal controls.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
