We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Payroll Clerk to join our growing team. This position is responsible for processing payroll for construction employees working across multiple cities and job sites, ensuring accurate labor allocation, compliance with state and local regulations, and timely payroll processing.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong organizational skills, and understands the complexities of construction payroll, including overtime calculations, job costing, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll for field and office employees across multiple cities and job locations.
- Review and audit employee timecards, labor hours, and job cost coding for accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Calculate and verify overtime, per diem, prevailing wages, and other payroll-related compensation.
- Maintain employee payroll records and update employee information as needed.
- Prepare certified payroll reports and support prevailing wage projects when required.
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end accounting functions.
- Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors to resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Assist with onboarding new employees and payroll system setup.
- Support workers’ compensation reporting, audits, and compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience processing payroll for employees working in multiple cities, jurisdictions, or job sites.
- Knowledge of construction labor laws, overtime regulations, and job costing.
- Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting is preferred.
- Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Bi-lingual a plus.

- Construction accounting software experience.
- Multi-state payroll processing.
- Certified payroll reporting.
- Foundation Software, Sage, or similar construction accounting systems.
