Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team on the first shift. In this role, you will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce precision parts and components, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your expertise in machining processes, blueprint interpretation, and tooling setup will drive our production excellence. Duties
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, primarily using Okuma CNCs.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and specifications to produce accurate parts.
- Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software MasterCAM and modify existing programs as needed for optimal performance.
- Perform precision measurements with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions.
- Maintain machine tools by performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and replacing tooling or fixtures to ensure continuous operation.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools for assembly or minor repairs when necessary.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity while adhering to safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, including G-code and M-code commands; experience with CAM programming is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T specifications, and mechanical diagrams accurately.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, welding techniques, and assembly procedures is a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting machine issues.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Knowledge of Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems; experience with SolidWorks or CAD software is advantageous.
- Ability to work safely with tooling, power tools, forklifts (certification preferred), and other manufacturing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance in a fast-paced production setting.
