The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS), Pharmacist reports to the Coordinator and provides
clinical expertise
and technical support on the design,
optimization
and integration of clinical workflow applications related to BC Cancer Pharmacy clinical information systems. The role participates in implementation and systems upgrades by assessing workflows, processes, and end-user learning needs and supports the implementation of new or changed pharmacy procedures, practices, workflows and systems.
The role consults, confers and collaborates with the Provincial Pharmacy Informatics Team, clinical project teams, local pharmacy
leadership
teams and staff regarding workflow, training needs and/or other requirements and gathers information for ongoing quality improvement and review.
What you’ll do Collaborate with BC Cancer pharmacy
leadership
teams and project teams to provide pharmacy staff with support and identify specific pharmacy systems learning needs.
Support the development of clinical and business systems for Cerner by identifying opportunities to improve workflow, processes and systems in
collaboration
with pharmacy teams and supports pharmacy end-users with processes and use of systems.
Participate the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and business systems, provide input on workflow and provide feedback on standards, protocols and procedures to support an integrated clinical and business system.
Implement learning plans to ensure a smooth transition to new or changed systems; conduct post-implementation reviews, identify gaps in learning and/or the system and make recommendations for further improvements.
Identify
education
priorities that meet BC Cancer pharmacy staff learning needs, in
collaboration
with pharmacy
leadership
teams including Pharmacy Coordinators; complete learning needs assessments of individuals or groups of individuals to assist in determining the appropriate training requirements and learning objectives; provide applicable
education
and training to pharmacy
leadership
and staff.
Participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of pharmacy
education
programs to meet the learning needs of pharmacy staff and leaders including the development of
education
materials for new users and continuing
education
of users resulting from changes, such as new technology, system upgrades and/or new system functionality.
What you bring
Current registration as a Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
Completion of an accredited hospital pharmacy residency, supplemented by two (2) years’ related hospital pharmacy experience including experience with related computer technology, clinical informatics, clinical workflow and clinical
change management
and one (1) year recent BCC Pharmacy Information Systems experience or an equivalent combination of
education
, training and experience.
