Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child and Youth Worker to support children and young individuals in a dynamic and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities, and possess a strong passion for teaching and fostering positive development. This role involves creating engaging activities, providing emotional support, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. The Child and Youth Worker plays a vital part in helping children reach their full potential through personalized care and educational guidance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging activities tailored to the developmental needs of children and youth
- Provide emotional support and mentorship to children with diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants
- Support children during daily routines, including meals, recreational activities, and transitions
- Collaborate with families, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care plans are followed
- Monitor behavior and progress, documenting observations to inform ongoing support strategies
- Promote positive social interactions among children and encourage teamwork
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of activity areas to ensure safety standards are met
Qualifications
CYC, SSW, BA
CPI, FirstAid/CPR, BROAD POLICE CHECK, DRIVERS Licence, Reliable Vehicle
- Compassionate, patient, and excellent at building rapport with children and families
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and caregivers
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations professionally
- Relevant certifications or training in child development or special education are a plus
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s growth, learning, and well-being
