Casual Cybersecurity Analyst

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Casual Cybersecurity Analyst to join our cybersecurity team. This role provides hands-on exposure to cybersecurity operations, threat monitoring, vulnerability management, and security awareness initiatives within a professional enterprise environment. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals and gain practical experience supporting security tools, investigating alerts, documenting findings, and contributing to ongoing security improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring and triaging security alerts from endpoint, identity, and email security tools
• Support vulnerability management activities, including reviewing scan results and tracking remediation efforts
• Participate in basic incident investigation and documentation
• Help review suspicious emails, phishing reports, and security events
• Assist with maintaining security documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles
• Assist with log review and analysis across various systems and platforms
• Participate in team meetings and technical discussions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Completed a diploma or degree program in Cybersecurity Information Technology, or Computer Science or related discipline.
• Basic understanding of Networking concepts, operating systems (Windows/Linux)
• Cybersecurity principles and best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender, SIEM platforms, EDR tools and Vulnerability tools.
• Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
• Participation in Capture the Flag CTF competitions.
• Industry Certifications such as ISC2 CC, Security + an asset
• Google Cybersecurity Certificate an asset.
