Reporting to the Manager, Measurement and Research Insights (MRI), the Research Analyst is responsible for analyzing and reporting employee experience results and information to support BC Public Service Agency (PSA) partners and/or ministries. The Research Analyst also works in collaboration with the MRI team to support the work of the Workforce Intelligence and Planning branch. The Workforce Intelligence and Planning branch leads corporate intelligence and human resources planning efforts to provide information and strategies to collaboratively solve provincial workforce challenges and inform service delivery improvements.

The Research Analyst plays an important role in providing BC Public Service Agency (PSA) partners with employee experience results and information, by analyzing and reporting on qualitative and quantitative feedback and information. This role also assists in identifying and collecting potential data, and reviewing data quality.

This role involves:
•    Gathering, analyzing, and evaluating qualitative and quantitative data to report on the performance of PSA partners and/or ministries, and providing recommendations for improvement.
•    Assessing and maintaining surveys, as well as assessing and maintaining the reliability and validity of data sets (e.g., data cleaning and assessing data gaps).
•    Supporting continuous improvement efforts of the team by researching and assessing best practices related to employee experience and the needs of PSA partners and/or ministries.

Job Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., social sciences, commerce, statistics or math, public administration, business administration); OR
•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
•    One (1) year recent experience assessing the quality of quantitative data (e.g., checking for limitations, problems, accuracy, reliability, and/or validity).
•    One (1) year recent experience analyzing quantitative data and creating reports.
•    One (1) year recent experience coding/theming qualitative data, interpreting written responses, and creating reports.
•    One (1) year recent experience visualizing information (i.e., presenting data/outcomes in graphs or other visualizations) for summary reports and/or dashboards for various audiences including senior management.
•    One (1) year recent experience analyzing data in any of the following areas: program evaluation, performance management, research, policy development, workforce intelligence.

Preference may be given to candidates who fulfill the above requirements and have recent experience in one (1) or more of the following:
•    Graduate degree in a related discipline.
•    More than two (2) years’ experience in any of the requirements.
•    Experience conducting and interpreting inferential statistics.
•    Experience designing or developing surveys.
•    Experience programming surveys (i.e., using survey software or applications).
•    Experience with statistical analysis tools.
•    Experience facilitating focus groups, conducting qualitative research, or communications.
•    Experience building dashboards (e.g., Microsoft PowerBI), using VBA, or using SQL.
