Job Summary

We are actively seeking for an   Animal Health Assistant   ( Toxicology Technician Assistant  )  to

join our team

and continue our work while maintaining the highest standard of animal welfare in mind.

You will

be assisting our team with the daily tasks related to specific and

safe handling

of animal species, while following standards and procedures that allows us to ensure that we contribute to the safety of medications that may be used by individuals everywhere. An Animal Health Assistant supports research by acting as a key player in overseeing animal health and well-being.

Through mentorship and training with our veteran technicians, you will grow

your skills

to become a fully capable   Animal Health Technician   (Toxicology Technician) at ITR Laboratories.

General

Responsibilities

Perform animal caretaking: feeding,

safe handling

, also ensuring maintenance of a clean and healthy environment by cleaning.

Initiate enrichment activities as required by the study plan and animal needs involving: treats, exercise, social interaction, and overall maintaining a positive environment for them.

Work in

collaboration

with Animal Health technicians during treatments.

Record and report changes in animal health through observed clinical signs.

Ensure that rooms are maintained and set-up with appropriate housing materials (Ex. food, water, and toys for the animals).

Adhere to the team schedule to complete activities in a timely fashion.

Follow the Standard Operating Procedure ( SOP ) and the Good Laboratory Practices ( GLP ) regulations.

Participate in training to develop advanced animal related competencies.

Perform any other study related duties as required and assisting technicians.

Requirements

High School Diploma or the equivalence.

Experience in the field is not mandatory as training will be provided .

Must be

available full time: 37.5 hours/week.

Availability to work to flexible timelines and additional hours including overtime, evenings, early mornings, and weekends.

Must be

able to push, pull, carry weight up-to/around 20kg (44 lbs).

Able to

communicate and coordinate with team members appropriately.

Must have

good

attention to detail

,

multitasking

abilities, and high sense of responsibility.

Ability to

read and write in English, bilingualism an asset.
