Description

Located in the Calgary office, the individual in the Accountant, Capital, Corporate Accounting role will report to the Manager, Corporate Accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the capital accounting within Inter Pipeline’s Centre Function.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

• Support both the project accounting (70%) and corporate accounting functions (30%)

• Perform all Corporate capital accounting including, but not limited to preparing project accruals and AFE’s, lease entries, continuities, IDC, capital overhead, capital budgeting, and all analyses associated with corporate projects

• Primary accounting contact for all project related costs for the Centre Function

• Work closely with the G&A teams to monitor projects and complete activities such as creating, in-servicing, completing and/or cancelling projects on a continuous basis

• Build solid working relationships with the G&A teams with the goal of being a strong business partner and enhancing the financial information provided to accounting

• Lead annual G&A project budgeting process and support monthly G&A forecast process

• Prepare month end journal entries related to the asset balances on the balance sheet (ex. Prepaids, Accounts Receivable, Asset Depreciation)

• Prepare balance sheet asset account reconciliations, and resolve related issues on a timely basis

• Review accounting entries in an accurate and timely manner, including reviews of account reconciliations and month end journal entries

• Perform monthly and quarterly variance analysis

• Perform ad-hoc analysis and internal reporting – management reports, special projects, queries – as required

• Ensure adherence to Inter Pipeline’s corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and IFRS by maintaining proper accounting procedures and practices

Education, Skills and Experience

• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

• 4+ years of applicable industry or public practice experience. Previous capital accounting experience considered an asset

• Knowledge of IFRS, SOX, and experience in corporate accounting

• Ability to evaluate complex business and accounting issues

• Possess strongattention to detailand accuracy

• Provide contributions that go beyond the financial function; has a good understanding of business and systems

• Manage internal and external relationships

• Well-developed interpersonal, team, customer service andcommunication skills

• Capable to meet deadlines and work independently

• Proficient at working well in afast-paced, growth environment
