4 Part-time School Counsellors (Multiple schools) – Continuous Jobs in Sherwood Park at Elk Island Public Schools
Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the education needs of approximately 17,750 students in 43 schools. EIPS is recruiting 4 part time School Counsellors for: Brentwood Elementary (0.5 FTE), Fultonvale Elementary Junior High (0.5 FTE), Pine Street Elementary(0.5 FTE) and Bruderheim School (0.426 FTE). Positions may be combined to make a full-time FTE.
Brentwood Elementary serves approximately 425 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 21 teaching staff and 12 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB. Three unique programs operate at Brentwood, including the Elementary program for kindergarten to Grade 6, the Logos Christian program for kindergarten to Grade 6 and the specialized Generating Occupational, Academic and Life Skills (GOALS) program for grades 1 to 6. While protecting the integrity of each, all staff and students work together as part of the Brentwood family.
Fultonvale Elementary Junior High serves approximately 450 students in kindergarten to Grade 9, with 23 teaching staff and seven support staff. The school is located in rural Strathcona County, AB, approximately 13 kilometers southeast of Sherwood Park, AB. The Fultonvale Elementary Junior High mission is to provide a positive environment where students are able to develop to their full potential. The school promotes lifelong learning and continuous personal growth and development for all students, staff and families. The school motto "Feel the H.E.A.T.", represents the basic beliefs of heart, excellence, attitude and teamwork.
Bruderheim School serves
approximately 110 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with eight teaching
staff and nine support staff. The school is located in Bruderheim, AB,
approximately 48 kms north of Sherwood Park, AB. Bruderheim School is filled with responsible students and staff
who strive to do their best in all things. Everyone in the school is encouraged
to strive for excellence and focus on building character. To succeed and be
able to develop a positive attitude of being unique, students need to feel
secure. The school sets performance expectations for all parents, students and
staff and sees community involvement as mutually beneficial and worthwhile for
everyone.
Pine Street
Elementary serves approximately 370 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 20
teaching staff and 26 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB. Pine Street Elementary strives to provide a safe and caring school
community built upon meaningful relationships. The school is committed to
providing quality learning opportunities where students achieve academic
excellence as self-directed, lifelong learners and develop into responsible
global citizens. Pine Street Elementary is also a designated Play And Learn at
School (PALS) pre-kindergarten site within the Division.
Commencing August 27, 2026 and ending June 29, 2027- Open to internal and external applicants, priority will be

A master’s degree in counselling and registered or provisional psychologist status is preferred. Consideration will be given to applicants presently working on a master’s in this area. A minimum of five years of teaching experience, education in psychology or a related discipline with a focus on counselling, and Violent Threat Risk Assessment Training (VTRA) would be considered an asset.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education degree
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Effective organization and classroom management skills
- Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
- Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
