Yard Hostler
Nichols Trucking Co. is looking for an experienced Class A Yard Hostler based in Portland, OR.
**Must be available to work a 10-hour shift Friday & Saturday 4p – 2:30a, and Sunday & Monday 7p – 5:30a**
Our ideal candidate has experience spotting trailers and must have a Class A CDL
Responsibilities
- Operating combination tractor-trailers, bobtail trucks, and yard hostler.
- Consistently and accurately backing a trailer up to a dock with relative ease.
- Safely maneuvering a truck through the yard.
- Climbing in and out of vehicles numerous times per shift.
- Using wheel chocks and other safety devices as required.
- Communicate effectively using onboard computer. Tech savy.
Qualifications:
- Previous shuttling/hostling experience preferred
- Must be able to bend, stoop, twist and turn in confined areas
- Must be able to read and follow instructions
Shift Hours:
10- 11 hour shifts Night Shift available now
Salary: $29.00 per hour
Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required.

Application Question(s):
- Do you have experience operating a yard truck or spotting trailers in a yard environment?
- Are you comfortable safely moving and spotting 53′ trailers in tight spaces within a busy yard or terminal?
- Have you worked with trailer inventory systems or performed trailer checks before (verifying trailer numbers, seal numbers, etc.)?
- Are you willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.)?
- Are you available to work flexible shifts, including nights or weekends if needed?
- Do you have experience with performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractors or trailers?
Experience:
- Semi-Tractor Trailer: 2 years (Required)
- Hostler : 2 years (Required)
