Bring your craftsmanship experience to LifeSpace Gardens

At LifeSpace Gardens, we design and build architectural, self-watering garden systems that help people grow their own food — beautifully and sustainably.

We’re looking for an experienced woodshop professional to join our fabrication team and bring our planter systems to life with precision, care, and pride in the build process.

If you're someone who knows their way around a shop, takes satisfaction in consistent, high-quality output, and wants your work to contribute to something meaningful — we’d love to work with you.

About The Role

You’ll be joining a team building premium garden products from sustainably sourced cedar and fir. Our systems are used by high-end homeowners, schools, commercial installations, and municipalities across the region. You’ll be responsible for everything from prepping rough lumber to finishing and final assembly.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly

  • Read and interpret cut lists, diagrams, and shop drawings to build garden beds, planter boxes, and trellises.
  • Safely operate woodworking machinery (table saw, miter saw, planer, jointer, drill press, router, sanders).
  • Use shop jigs and fixtures to ensure consistency and efficiency across builds.
  • Perform clean, functional joinery for outdoor durability.
  • Assemble and install internal self-watering irrigation components (training provided).

Finishing & Quality

  • Sand and prep surfaces for outdoor use, applying water-based oils, stains, and protective finishes.
  • Select corrosion-resistant fasteners and hardware based on material and application.
  • Perform final inspections and quality checks to ensure builds meet design standards.

General Shop Operations

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace with attention to tool care and shop safety.
  • Assist with materials handling, inventory, deliveries, and on-site installs as needed.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements, jig development, and product refinements.
  • Work within a team environment, giving and receiving direction.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

  • 2+ years of professional woodworking, cabinetmaking, millwork, or shop fabrication experience.
  • Confidence using woodworking tools and machines safely and independently.
  • Comfortable lifting materials and working on your feet for most of the day.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in your craftsmanship.

Bonus Points For

  • Machine maintenance experience.
  • Management / supervisor experience.
  • Process management experience.
  • Passion for gardening, sustainability, or food systems.
