About The Role

Reporting to the CFO, the Vice President, Finance will provide strategic leadership and oversight across the firm's finance and accounting functions, including financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, corporate and fund operations, and compliance. The VP, Finance serves as a strategic thought partner to the executive team, helping shape organizational priorities, long-term business objectives, and key financial decisions.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role. The VP, Finance is expected to take full ownership of day-to-day corporate finance operations, acting as an ambassador for Spira's financial reputation with investors, lenders, and auditors, and collaborating cross-functionally with Asset Management, Acquisitions, and Tax to ensure financial insights support business decisions across the organization.

What You Will Do

Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting

  • Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting processes across Spira’s fund and corporate entities
  • Review and sign off on financial statements to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (US GAAP), reporting requirements, and internal policies
  • Provide guidance and assess financial reporting implications on complex accounting matters and financing transactions
  • Manage full-cycle accounting, year-end preparation, accounts payable/receivable, government remittances, and audit coordination across multiple entities
  • Direct day-to-day treasury operations including wire transfers, FX conversions, and banking activities
  • Monitor and project manage the implementation of NetSuite across the organization to realize operational efficiencies
  • Lead the year-end audit process, including preparation of reconciliations and working papers, and manage relationships with external auditors
  • Continuously strengthen internal control frameworks, accounting policies, and financial procedures to align with the firm's growth, governance standards, and regulatory requirements

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • For corporate entities, oversee annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes, including corporate G&A and executive-level financial analysis
  • For fund entities, work with Asset Management and property FP&A to review consolidated roll-up of budgets and forecasts from properties
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to support decision-making across the business, including scenario planning and returns tracking and forecasting
  • Prepare executive-level reporting packages and board-level presentations with clear commentary on performance drivers, risks, and opportunities
  • Build and continuously improve financial processes, documentation, and reporting infrastructure to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of financial operations

Fund Operations & Investor Reporting

  • Oversee all fund-level accounting and reporting, including quarterly and annual financial statements, NAV statements, management fees, capital calls, distributions, and investor notices
  • Manage fund operations in coordination with third-party fund administrators, including fund-level general ledgers and receivables/payables
  • Lead the management of subscription line facilities and coordinate capital call processes in collaboration with fund administrators
  • Lead investor relations and respond to ad hoc investor queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Oversee the investor onboarding process, including coordination with legal counsel, review of subscription documents, and investor due diligence requirements
  • Monitor ongoing lender and investor compliance reporting requirements
  • Partner with the CFO and Acquisitions team on fundraising and transaction support
  • Support the internal tax team with tax compliance requirements across fund and corporate entities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team across performance management, workload prioritization, and professional development
  • Drive cross-functional coordination on finance-related initiatives to ensure consistency and alignment across the organization

What You Bring

  • CPA designation required; CFA or MBA considered an asset
  • 10-15+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership responsibilities
  • Background in private equity, real estate investment, asset management, or a comparable investment management environment strongly preferred
  • Experience overseeing fund-level accounting, investor reporting, capital calls, distributions, and external audits is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks
  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution; comfortable working at all levels of the finance function
  • Strategic and commercial mindset with strong analytical, problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills – able to translate complex financial data into clear, accessible insights for investors, lenders, leadership, and non-finance audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams and drive a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable in a growing organization where processes are still being built
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to leadership
