About This Opportunity:

The Communications Team plays an integral role across all areas of the organization, leading key initiatives that enhance the organization’s profile and steward its reputation, as well as that of the profession. These include policy, advocacy and thought leadership, to fostering meaningful engagement with members and students.

As the Vice-President, Communications you’ll provide guidance across all areas of internal and external communications. You’ll develop and advance strategic and business communication initiatives, ensuring the team delivers high-quality, innovative, and impact-focused campaigns and products, while enhancing the reputation of both the organization and the profession.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Shape and steward CPA Ontario’s internal and external communications strategy to strengthen the reputation of both the organization and the profession.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally teams to shape and deliver communications strategies and programs that drive the organization’s key priorities forward.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams to shape and execute communications strategies and programs that drive the organization’s key priorities forward.
  • Drive the development and delivery of external communications, cultivating strong relationships with the media and other external partners.
  • Design and deliver employee communications that foster connection, and support transformation, culture and engagement.
  • Provide trusted, strategic guidance to the CEO and other members of the senior leadership team, supporting their internal and external communications objectives.
  • Ensure strategies and campaigns are insight-driven, delivering meaningful stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Partner with insights and data teams to measure and enhance effectiveness and deliver meaningful reporting and insights.
  • Be an active contributor to CPA Ontario’s leadership network.
  • To Be Successful You Need:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive communications leadership experience in complex finance-related organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable business outcomes through communications strategies and programs.
  • Experience leading media relations teams and professionals.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional people management, development and coaching skills.
  • Experience developing annual reports, managing crises and issues, and supporting leaders with the full range of executive communications.
  • Experience developing innovative and engaging internal communications strategies and products.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with proven experience developing and editing executive messages, speeches, talking points, presentations and briefing documents.
  • Excellent understanding of digital communications and data analytics and how to leverage their use to their full capacity.
  • A university degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs or other related discipline. A graduate degree would be an asset.
  • Salary Range

  • The salary for this role will be determined based on your qualifications, experience, and internal parity.
