Duties
- Locate underground utility lines using advanced detection equipment and techniques to ensure accurate identification before excavation or construction activities.
- Interpret blueprints, maps, and construction plans to verify the location of underground utilities and coordinate with project teams.
- Operate field equipment such as backhoes and forklifts to assist in excavation or site preparation when necessary.
- Conduct land surveying activities to establish precise locations of utility lines and mark boundaries for construction projects.
- Use cabling tools and techniques to trace underground cables and ensure proper routing during installation or maintenance.
- Maintain detailed records of utility locations, markings, and inspection reports for project documentation and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with service technicians, construction crews, and project managers to facilitate smooth operations on-site.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or in a related field service role with a focus on utility locating or underground infrastructure.
- Strong background in land surveying, blueprint reading, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience operating backhoes, forklifts, and other construction equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of cabling systems, underground utilities, and excavation safety protocols.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and documenting findings accurately.
- Prior experience working on construction sites or in environments requiring utility locating is highly desirable.
