Job Description:
We are seeking reliable CDL Class A drivers to join our team in Chicago. Drivers are responsible for safely operating refrigerated straight trucks and delivering meat, produce, and other restaurant products to customers throughout the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs.
This position involves local route deliveries with frequent stops and manual unloading using a hand truck, pallet jack, or two-wheeler. Drivers must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and customer service while ensuring timely deliveries.
This is a local delivery position with no overnight travel (No OTR).
Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate refrigerated straight trucks and deliver customer orders according to scheduled routes and delivery times.
- Unload products using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or manually and place items in designated customer storage areas.
- Verify deliveries with customers, count items, and obtain required signatures.
- Collect payments (cash or checks) when required.
- Return rejected or unsold merchandise with completed credit documentation.
- Maintain communication with dispatch, sales, and accounting regarding deliveries or pickups.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service during deliveries.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, documentation, and required paperwork.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of trucks and delivery equipment.
- Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other delivery equipment safely.
- Follow all traffic laws and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Safely operate vehicles in all weather conditions.
Job Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A license
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and safe driving history
- Must be 21 years of age (DOT requirement)
- Ability to lift 75–85 lbs repeatedly
- Ability to perform touch freight and manual unloading
- Ability to make frequent stops during delivery routes
- Ability to operate manual transmission
- Must pass DOT drug testing (including random testing)
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Excellent attendance and reliability
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and Saturdays as needed
- English proficiency required for DOT compliance
