Roles & Responsibilities

Operate and drive automobiles, vans, and light trucks to pick up and deliver various material and products to support manufacturing needs.

Ensure and assist in correct loading, securing, and unloading of freight on vehicle or trailer.

Operate vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road.

Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding the delivery of goods.

Record information on pick-ups and deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel costs, and any problems encountered.

Communicate with central dispatch.

Loading and unloading products in a safe manner, using provided tools as appropriate (e.g. dollies, lifts, etc.).

Report customer, mechanical, or delivery problems, vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.

Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.

Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, inspection, delivery receipts, and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.

Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form.

Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery of load and vehicle to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.

Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements.

Deliver to product and proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely manner.

Ensure the preventive maintenance (oil changes, etc.) and cleaning of vehicle and trailer are performed at regular intervals.

Assist in departmental activities when driving is not required.

Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s Abstract.

Ability to drive a 1-ton vehicle with a 30’ to 40’ trailer and 5-ton box van and safely navigate in and out of loading docks.

One year or equivalent commercial truck driving experience.

Ability to drive a forklift is an asset.

Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TGD) certification.

Defensive Driving Course is an asset.

Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.

High level of personal integrity.

Strong work ethic.

Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.

Working Conditions

Travel required, within the City of Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Nisku area.

Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.

Overtime as required.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.
