Transit Field Supervisor/Certified Instructor

The Transit Field Supervisor/Instructor is a highly rewarding and engaging opportunity. Reporting to the Safety and Training Manager, you will train, supervise, and support Roam’s Transit Operators throughout the Bow Valley and ensure passenger needs are met by providing leadership and support for our team.
Job Profile:
Position Summary:
Collaborate with Driver Trainers and Safety and Training Manager to deliver driver training and ensure new hires and existing drivers are confident and capable of fulfilling their duties.
Provide class 2 licence upgrade training as per government regulations
Provide operational on-road support and guidance to front-line team.
Approximately 75% of the job will be in the field, moving throughout our communities providing support to drivers.
Hours of work will vary depending on the needs of the organization; shifts will primarily range from mid-morning to late evening.
This position requires a self-motivated and highly organized individual who can effectively manage their work with guidance from supervisors and colleagues.
Responsibilities
Instructing/Training:
In collaboration with the Safety and Training Manager create engaging driver training programs.
Deliver class 2 licence upgrade training as per government regulations.
Provide training and direction to both new and senior drivers. This includes SMITH driving principles, customer service, Roam procedures and best practices, etc.
Instruct drivers on best practices for operating all types of Roam buses. This includes smooth driving, efficient use of HVAC systems on e-buses etc.
Pre and post trip instruction– ensuring inspections are being completed accurately and fully by all drivers.
Assist in the ongoing development of operations and training manuals.
Field Supervising:
Conduct and document on-road driver follow-ups and check ins. This may include but is not limited to confirming drivers have; name plates visible, are wearing seatbelts and proper uniform, and are following all Roam policies and procedures.
Complete driver performance reviews and follow up on complaints or performance related issues in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
Monitor radio communications and respond to day to day on road operational issues.
Provide insight and input to the Operations Manager with regards to driver disciplinary reviews.
Assist the Safety and Training Manager to ensure all safe operating procedures are adhered to.
Provide direct, on-road support to drivers as needed.
Assist in the completion of formal incident investigations and ensure that all incident reports are completed as required.
