Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and skilled Traffic Controller responsible for safely directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic through temporary work zones, construction sites, or maintenance areas. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a valid Nova Scotia Traffic Control ticket. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where safety and precision are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Stopping, slowing, and directing traffic using standardized signals to minimize delays while prioritizing safety.
- Ensuring all traffic control procedures follow Nova Scotia regulations.
- Setting up, maintaining, and tearing down traffic control devices, including signs, cones, and barricades.
- Maintaining constant communication with other TCPs, crew leaders, and sometimes pedestrians.
- Identifying potential hazards and monitoring surroundings to keep workers and motorists safe.
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Nova Scotia TCP training certificate.
- Ability to stand for long periods, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift objects up to lbs.
- Strong verbal communication to provide clear instructions to drivers.
- Punctuality, teamwork, and the ability to focus in a high-risk environment.
- Environment: Mostly outdoor, noisy, and near heavy equipment and moving traffic.
- Schedule: Often involves long hours, flexible schedules including days, nights, and weekends.
- Nature of Work: Seasonal, fast-paced, and safety-sensitive
- Drivers License and transportation considered an asset.
Pay: $16.75-$21.00 per hour
