Currently seeking to add a WATER & SEWER TOP MAN to our team!
Title: Top Man
Location: Edmonton, AB
Position Type: Seasonal Full Time
Reporting To: Underground Foreman
Responsibilities and Duties
· Ensure pipe is installed and embedded properly and on grade using proper practices and materials required – monitor, control and adjust as necessary
· Record trench and pipe grading via laser, level and rod or batter boards
· Inspection of pipe, materials and tools prior to all usage
· Rigging and lowering of all materials into ditch in a safe and proper manner
· Prepare and help laborers throughout the day, directing junior crew members
· Setting up track line
· Lining up service connection locations, CB’s, MH’s, etc.
· Act as the main watch point for hazards, ladders, slopes, etc.
· Monitor and control water in trenches
· Perform other duties as required
· Understand and follow direction from supervisor
· Maintain cleanliness in working areas
· Follow health and safety policies
Qualifications and Skills
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a top man in underground utilities
· High attention to detail and problem solving
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Must have own means of transportation
· Physically capable
· Able to work in a fast paced environment
· Valid class 5 driver’s license
· Thorough understanding of construction safety site practices
· Ability to work weekends and overtime shifts when required
