Hourly Wage: $17/hour
Employment Type: Part-Time or Full-Time, up to 40 hours per week
Term: 12-month contract, possibility of extension
Schedule: Flexible; the store is open Mon-Fri 9am-8pm and Sat-Sun 10am-6pm

Summary: We are seeking amotivated and customer-focused Thrift Store Sales Associates to join our team on a part-time or full-time basis. As a Sales Associate, you will play a key role in providing excellent customer service, assisting with merchandise displays, and contributing to the overall success of our thrift store. If you are passionate about sustainable shopping, have a flair for creativity, and enjoy interacting with diverse customers, this position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on our community while earning $17 per hour.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, actively engage with them, and provide exceptional service throughout their shopping experience. Offer assistance in finding items, answer questions about products, and provide guidance on the store layout.
Sales and Checkout: Efficiently process sales transactions using the point-of-sale system, handling cash and credit card payments accurately. Maintain a neat and organized checkout area to expedite the purchasing process.
Merchandise Display: Help maintain an attractive and organized store layout. Assist with replenishing shelves, racks, and displays with new items as they become available. Ensure that items are appropriately priced and labeled.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep the store clean, tidy, and presentable. Regularly sweep, mop, and dust to create a pleasant shopping environment for customers.
Donation Processing: Accept and sort incoming donations, ensuring they are clean and in good condition. Organize donations and transfer them to the sales floor promptly.
Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the products available in the store, including clothing, accessories, household items, and more. Be able to provide basic information about the items to customers.
Promote Sustainability: Emphasize the thrift store’s mission to promote sustainability and encourage customers to support environmentally-friendly shopping practices.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve store goals and maintain a positive work atmosphere.
Volunteer Leadership: Train and direct volunteers to assist with store duties
Qualifications:
● Previous retail or customer service experience.
● Passion for thrift shopping, sustainable practices, or environmental causes is desirable.
● Intermediate knowledge of brand-names.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (engaging with customers, other team members, and direct supervisor).
● Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail (sorting donations, cash handling).
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
(balancing cashier duties, customer service, and donations at once).
● Ability to move boxes and bags up to 40lbs
● Available weekdays, evenings and/or weekends.
