Description: The Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of therapeutic rehabilitation programs. The Therapy Assistant participates in assessment related activities as well as the planning and development of client programs which includes leading individual or group treatment and educational interventions. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Recent experience in a rehabilitation setting and hands-on work with elderly or disabled individuals required. Experience across both hospital and community environments is considered an asset. Candidates must be able to follow direction closely, with a clear understanding of role boundaries related to patient treatment and education. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Comfort working with disabled or non-communicative adults is required, along with demonstrated patience, flexibility, and the ability to maintain focus for extended periods. The ability to address patient and family concerns with professionalism and diplomacy is also expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development. The role requires extended periods of standing and walking, as well as close, supportive interaction with patients. Physical demands include bending, pulling, lifting, and performing a variety of movements, including working in awkward positions. The position also involves transferring and/or lifting adult patients and transporting equipment.
