THE ROLE

The Terminal Manager is the primary point of contact for Drivers to assist in solving problems and answering questions in a timely and effective manner while also facilitating the safe and professional performance of their work. The Terminal Manager is responsible for the operational as well as financial performance of their terminal(s) and collaborates with the Area Manager to assist with the development of the terminal budget so that they have a full understanding of expected deliverables.

This position also manages local customer relationships and any issues that may affect profitability.

This role reports to an Area Manager and interacts with Company Drivers, Independent Contractors, Service Centers, management, Safety, Human Resources, and local customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety:

Collaborate with the Safety Trainer to identify, review, and address safety events;

Lead safety and driver meetings at the terminal;

Reviewing in-cab camera events with the Safety Trainers for potential coaching or remediation;

Provide clarity on safety expectations and procedures and work with the Safety department to provide coaching, training, and remediation as necessary;

Final escalation point for Safety violations;

Review safety reports and analytical data and address any issues or trends;

Ensure the terminal has the appropriate safety supplies;

Ensure all equipment meets regularity and corporate compliance;

Promote a proactive safety culture within the terminal and enforce a culture of safety through actions and communications.

Ensure the terminal is organized, clean, and free of safety hazards;

Work with Dispatch Managers to monitor high-risk weather conditions and in conjunction with Area Managers evaluate if conditions allow for safe travel.

Drivers:

Primary point of contact for responding to and creating solutions for driver complaints, concerns, and questions;

Coach and mentor Drivers with an emphasis on opencommunication;

Set measurable goals with Drivers and maintain accountability and performance management as needed;

Work with Recruiting and Sales departments to ensure proper driver levels based on revenue projections, new business, and projected turnover;

Work collaboratively with the Service Centers to ensure efficient and fair dispatching of eligible Drivers based on availability;

Support driver retention, engagement, and satisfaction and work with Human Resources on corresponding initiatives;

Understand and uphold Independent Contractors’ contracts and understand and apply localcollective bargainingagreements, where applicable

Working collaboratively across the Company to understand company policies & procedures and ensure compliance;
