Our Geographic Information Technology Services (GITS) Department is looking for a dedicated Temporary Service Desk Technician to join the team.

Position Responsibilities

The Geographic Information Technology Services (GITS) Department is currently seeking a Temporary Service Desk Support Technician to join our team for May 11th, 2026 through to August 31st, 2026. You will work in a high energy environment as part of the Service Desk Team, assisting with the configuration and deployment of computers for City staff, processing surplus equipment for disposal, and aiding the Service Desk with other hardware/software maintenance tasks.

Duties

This is a great position for gain experience and knowledge in many different aspects IT support. You will assist the ITS Service Desk Team with the following duties:

  • Provide tier1 technical support to end-users via teams voice, email and in-person.
  • Imaging, configuring, and deployment of replacement desktops and laptops to City staff at multiple facilities.
  • Scheduling deployment with staff.
  • Update the digital computer Inventory record keeping system.
  • Document and identify support tickets in our IT service management system.
  • Process surplus equipment for disposal.
  • Other ITS Service Desk duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum one year of college in technical field such as information systems, computer systems technology or computer science
  • Working knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Experience with Intune and autopilot.
  • Experience with installing application software and hardware drivers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work with independently and in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills.
  • Proof of valid driver's license.
  • A great sense of humor.

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation

Salary range $27.63 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
