Requirement Summary
- Job Role/Title: Technical Support Specialist
- Job Type: Contract Opportunity. Initial contract of 8 months with good possibilities of extensions.
- Job Location: Toronto, ON / Winnipeg, MB
- Work Style: Hybrid Work Setting – 3 days in the office required (Monday & Friday remote work)
- Work Hours: 37.5 hours/week, typically Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Rate Cap: $35-50/Hr. (on Incorp.). The compensation will be negotiated between the contractor and recruiter based on experience and engagement terms.
- Interview: Teams interviews; 2 interviews
NOTE: Successful personnel must have an active Reliability Security Clearance
- Consultant must reside in Canada for a minimum of 5 years to be eligible to apply for the Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.

Position Overview: The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for supporting existing technologies. Providing operational excellence of existing security technologies and services. They will require a mindset focused on business value and continuous service improvement.
Responsibilities:
General
- Demonstrate strong fundamentals and best-practices while working hands-on with a variety of technologies
- Follow ITIL best practices re: incident management, problem management, change management
- Complete deliverables and deliver solutions with the highest possible quality in the most efficient & effective manner
- Crystal clear communication skills and provide detailed documentation as required
Security Services
- Provide support for existing technology stacks, including GitLab, Ansible, NXLog, etc.
- Applied knowledge of Security Log
- Embody world-class service and support
- Deploy solution components and participate in appropriate functional and non-functional testing
- Work with internal and external stakeholder teams to implement/validate solution integration points
Other
- Participate in meetings and training events with a willingness to share knowledge and learn from others
- Demonstrate commitment to a respectful workplace and workplace diversity initiatives
- Foster the department’s culture with a focus on teamwork and stewardship with business units
- Support continual improvements of squad and department methods, tools, and techniques
Required Capabilities:
- Hands-on experience with Security Log.
- A degree or equivalent education in a related discipline, such as Computer Science, Business Computing, Engineering, or Commerce, is required
- A minimum of 2 years of experience maintaining and supporting application, infrastructure, and security solutions in a large organization is required
- General knowledge of IT industry technology and best practices, and specific knowledge in security and infrastructure technologies such as web servers, application servers, Intel / Linux / AIX servers, workstations, databases, network, Cloud Computing, Automation, Logging methodologies and platforms, Splunk, SIEM / Syslog, etc.
- Automation or scripting background with PowerShell, Python, GitLab & Ansible
- Have attention to detail, be effective at planning, have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, be self-organized, and be a demonstrated self-starter with the ability to influence others
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience working in a team environment is a must
- Demonstrated desire to implement change and make a contribution to the organization, with a proven history of making appropriate decisions and recommendations
What really sets you apart:
- Hands-on experience with Security Log.
- Active Reliability Security Clearance.
- Experience with Splunk or other logging platforms
- Some experience in Scripting / Automation (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
- Some experience with JIRA, ServiceNow, and Confluence documentation
- A willingness to learn both existing and go-forward technology stacks
- Not being satisfied with ‘just doing the job’, but finding ways to continually improve processes and services
