As the Technical Designer, you will be the lead on all processes of product development for domestic and import partners manufacturing Stanfield’s brands. We are looking for a highly organized individual with thorough knowledge in the processes of garment construction, grading, assessing size specifications and manufacturing timelines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design and manufacturing to ensure quality and design remain true to Stanfield’s legacy.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for technical design and development of product in men’s and womenswear knitwear categories working within the seasonal timelines outlined in the Merchandising Calendar

Partnered closely with Design, create and complete technical packages and supporting materials for premium product representative of Stanfield’s brands

Create detailed garment technical specification packs by outlining construction processes, providing component requirements, packaging details, and measurements

Measure, inspect and report on all prototype, pre-production & top samples for all import and co-manufacturer builds

Track, manage and review samples throughout development process from inception to production and proactively address any issues or delays that arise

Actively solicits input and works closely with domestic Sewing Machine Operators

Participate in model fitting sessions; provide instruction to vendors for action to achieve proper fits

Leads build for the Bill of Materials and master file style setup

Collaborate closely with the pattern drafting department on maintaining new and active style updates

Develop and maintain good vendor relationships through consistent communication

Responsible for internal testing, follow-up and approval process pertaining to all garments and fabrics

Maintain style spreadsheet and sample shipment logs

Follows standard operating procedures on all requests to meet or exceed quality standards

Provides operations with pertinent details on construction, offering value add recommendations on pattern engineering

Attend and participate in Line Review meetings

Potential travel to Montreal/Toronto 2-3 times/ year to visit co-manufacturers

Qualifications:

4+ years industry experience preferably within a manufacturing setting

BA Degree/Diploma in Fashion Design, Clothing and Textiles, or a related field

Skilled in all aspects of garment measuring, construction (prefer with costing and marker making experience, but not required), sewing techniques

Understands the product development lifecycle, including cross-functional team requirements

Experience in CAD sketching and design

Advanced knowledge of material use, drape and garment function

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay clear and constructive feedback

Strong attention to detail – proven quality workmanship

Proven ability to identify issues, solve problems and work independently or with a team
