Team Lead

As the Team Lead, you will be the most senior staff member in the newly established Data and Quality Assurance Unit within the Property Tax Services Partnerships Branch in the Ministry of Finance. You will guide a skilled team, champion evidence-based decisions, and contribute to supporting Ontario’s municipalities through accurate, reliable property tax data.

About the job
In this role, you will:
- Lead and coach a team of data professionals focused on property tax and assessment data validation;
- Direct analysis and verification of large-scale datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with legislation;
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve data discrepancies and support municipal tax processes;
- Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes to support ongoing data integrity and operational excellence.

Meet Your New Team
The Property Tax Services Partnerships Branch is responsible for services that support municipalities’ property tax calculations. The branch ensures the accuracy and compliance of property tax data used by municipalities across the province, helping them deliver essential services to Ontarians.

Data, Modelling & Analytics Expertise
Apply deep analytical, modelling, and economic expertise to produce meaningful insights that support policy development.
- Strong foundation in data management, quantitative analysis, and quality assurance;
- Extensive experience designing, running, interpreting, and communicating environmental and economic modelling results;
- Ability to translate complex data into clear visualizations, dashboards, and concise analysis for decision-makers;
- Understanding of data governance, data management concepts, and information management best practices;
- Knowledge of Ontario’s property taxes.
Project Planning & Management
Use your planning and organizational skills to lead complex analytical projects and ensure high-quality, timely results.
- Experience managing analytical and modelling projects with diverse partners and shifting priorities;
- Ability to plan, scope, schedule, and deliver complex analysis under tight and changing deadlines;
- Skill in identifying risks, assessing issues, and aligning resources to meet project objectives.
Communication, Collaboration & Relationship Building
Bring strong communication and collaboration skills to convey complex ideas and build productive relationships.
- Ability to explain technical and analytical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences;
- Experience navigating diverse stakeholder environments and resolving complex data issues with clarity and diplomacy;
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, municipalities, and external stakeholders.
