Job Summary
The Sustainable Habitat Program Manager (SHPM) reports to the Natural Resources Manager and contributes to the overall success of the organization by protecting and sustaining the habitat and wildlife rights and Aboriginal Rights and Title according to Council’s vision, mission and strategic direction for High Bar First Nation (HBFN). The SHPM will participate in sustainable habitat operations discussions, including the long-term planning process for wildlife habitat, fish habitat, flora and fauna. The SHPM will also participate in the various habitat management meetings, and coordinate staff and projects as required. The SHPM will remain apprised of and participate in federal fisheries operations discussions, manage High Bar First Nation technicians, participate in the First Nation Operations Advisory Committee and any wildlife and fisheries Management related meetings and outcomes, and will inform the Organization’s leadership on an ongoing basis. The SHPM will work in conjunction with the HBFN Stewardship Forester to allocate responsibilities of the HBFN Guardian program to ensure that HBFN interests are manifested within the traditional territory.
Experience: Five years or related experience
Education: Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Biology, Ecology, Environmental Biology AND A professional designation as RP. Bio or the ability to attain this designation. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
