The Supply Planning Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting supply chain data to support operational efficiency, cost optimization, and strategic decision-making. The Planning Analyst will analyze sales data, market demand to determine optimal inventory levels, reorder points, and safety stock. The Planning Analyst monitors inventory strategies to help optimize service level and minimize obsolescence. This role coordinates with suppliers and production teams. Additional responsibilities may include environmental data analysis and regulatory compliance review with cross-functional team members.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze sales data and market demand to determine inventory targets, reorder points, and safety stock to balance service levels with inventory investment.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Market Rate of Demand (MRD) tools to support planning and purchasing decisions based on historical trends, seasonality, and demand forecasts.
- Collaborate with production teams to align manufacturing schedules with demand forecasts and inventory targets.
- Monitor inventory to reduce stockouts and minimize obsolete and slow-moving inventory through proactive planning and coordination.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, and Logistics to align inventory plans with operational objectives.
- Prepare and present inventory performance reports, KPIs, and insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Coordinate with suppliers and freight carriers to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of finished goods and manage supplier performance.
- Schedule inbound shipments and support transportation planning to ensure reliable and efficient logistics.
- Support regulatory compliance activities related to sourcing, transportation, inventory management and environmental fee reporting.
- Prepare and maintain documentation and data for audits, regulatory submissions, and compliance reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance planning efficiency and data accuracy.
Qualifications:
- University degree preferred
- 2–3 years of data analytics experience, preferably in a supply chain or operations environment.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and curious, with strong analytical skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
- Proven experience in continuous process improvement.
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement in evaluating options and implementing effective solutions.
- ERP knowledge preferred (JD Edwards), including data structures and supply chain processes
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP), with proficiency in Power Query and Power BI preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Information
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining work-from-home and in-office days. The successful candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Oakville office. During the probationary and training period, increased in-office presence will be required.
Compensation will be determined based on several factors, including the scope of the role, relevant experience, education, and key skills.
