Reporting to the Manager, Recreation, Community Engagement and Events, the Supervisor of Recreation is responsible for the research, development, training, supervision, coordination and implementation and delivery of the recreation programs for the Town.

Key responsibilities include:

In partnership with People and Belonging, organizes and facilitates the recruitment of Recreation staff for the new Health and Active Living Plaza and existing facilities.

Supervises the implementation of programs and services related to preschool, youth, adult, senior, school break camps

Oversees the partnership and programming of recreation programming at all Town run facilities.

Supervises division related full-time and part-time staff including scheduling, orientation and training, performance evaluation, safety, discipline, and payroll data authorization.

Develops and maintains yearly budgets and monitors expenditures and program revenue.

Formulates and recommends program offerings, ensure program documentation all applicable legislation/regulatory standards are complied with.

Supports and oversees one on one support programs, inclusion programs, and subsidy programming.

Liaises with external agencies (Parks, and Recreation Ontario, York Region Public Health, community and special interest groups, Ministry of Health, etc.) and other departments and Town staff to identify/facilitate program/service needs.

In partnership with Human Resources, ensures legislative health and safety standards are implemented and maintained.

Liaises with facility users, program participants, community groups, professional associations, service contractors, staff and the public about membership services and programming.

responds to enquiries and/or resolves complaints/concerns.

Qualifications and Requirements:

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of progressive experience in delivering municipal recreation services and managing full-time and part-time employees and volunteers.

Additional experience in summer camps, and inclusion support is an asset.

Degree or diploma in Recreation or related discipline.

Current First Aid Certification required and, HIGH FIVE Instructor an asset.

Class “G” Driver’s license.

High Five Certification or Trainer.

Recreation software program experience. ActiveNet preferred.

SalaryRange: $87,506- $102,950(Band7)

Consideration for secondment opportunities will be given to internal staff and municipal partners.
