As an Assay Lab Supervisor at Newmont, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable assay results that directly support safe production, grade control, and business decision‑making. Your leadership helps uphold Newmont’s standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence across site operations.

  • Lead daily assay laboratory operations to meet production and turnaround targets
  • Supervise, coach, and develop laboratory staff in a safety‑first environment
  • Ensure analytical accuracy through strong QA/QC processes and data review
  • Operate and maintain key analytical instruments including AAS, ICP‑OES, balances, and analyzers
  • Oversee sample preparation, testing, documentation, and reporting
  • Maintain SOPs, accreditation requirements, and laboratory inventory
  • Champion compliance with Newmont health, safety, environmental, and site policies

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, or equivalent experience
  • 8–10 years of experience in a gold mine assay laboratory
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of gold assay methods, QA/QC standards, and ISO accreditation
  • Experience with LIMS, data validation, and final data approval
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Salary

The expected salary range for this role is CA$ –  per year plus 15% STIP. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job‑related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
