DefinitionUnder the direction of a Working Foreman, a student classification as defined by the Collective Agreement, who performs various manual labour tasks and operates small hand and power tools.
Examples Of Work Performed
Perform manual labour including, but not limited to, shovel, rake and pick work, grass and brush clearing, public refuse collection etc.;
Assist other employees with their duties including, but not limited to, gardening, janitorial duties, etc.;
Operate power tools and equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mower, weedeater, and other hand tools;
Drive light vehicles, as required;
Inspect equipment daily for visible damage, for fluid and fuel requirements, electrical systems, tire checks, etc., and report any defects to Working Foreman;
Shift work may be required;
Other duties, as required.
Minimum Training And Experience
Completion of 1 year of full time post-secondary education, continuing studies on a full time basis in September
Ability to operate related equipment;
Good physical condition and able to perform heavy manual labour;
Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments;
Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public;
Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.
First Aid training is considered an asset;
