The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Deputy Fire Chief, Community Safety Administration, the incumbent will gain valuable work experience and transferable skills through supporting the Fire and Emergency Services Division. The Student, Fire Administration will have the opportunity to assist Administrative Staff with data entry, filing, answering phones, monitor general Fire inbox, scanning training records, cataloging general supplies and vendor lists.

  • Support Administrative Staff with data entry, filing, answering phones, monitor General Fire in-box, scanning training records, cataloging general supplies and vendor lists
  • Assist with records management
  • Assist in organizing and scheduling training sessions
  • Scheduling station tours and public education visits
  • Inventory of uniforms, medical supplies, bunker gear
  • Assist with Special Events (logistical arrangements, promotion, on-site support)
  • Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the departmental and/or corporate Business Continuity Plan
  • Participate in all mandatory training requirements
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a motivated student working towards a degree or diploma in Public Administration, Business Management, E-commerce, Political Science, or a related field and is returning to school in Fall 2026. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated strong administrative skills, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. We are seeking an individual with superior communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, and excellent organizational skills.

The successful candidate for this position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely, and after hours (as required).

This position offers a rate of pay of $20.62 per hour, based on a 35-hour work week.

Satisfactory proof of schooling or return to school, may be requested.
