Your opportunity:

The Strategic Grant Writer will support cross-divisional success in a broad range of high value, domestic funding programs. Reporting to the Senior Strategist, Research, the Strategic Grant Writer will work to bring the highest standardsof professionalism and dedication to achieve maximum quality and administration support to faculty in order to contribute to the success of grant applications in a number of Tri-Agency programs.

You will be responsible for supporting faculty members across divisions to develop and write proposals for research funding. You will advise on improvements to better meet agency requirements and improve grant submissions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Writing applications for research funding
  • Advising on challenges with funding opportunities and providing options
  • Verifying research funding proposals are complete, accurate and adhere to sponsor guidelines
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Analyzing and recommending project changes


Essential Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Doctorate Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 4 (four) years of relevant experience with drafting research funding applications, such as: reviewing and assessing feedback received from program stakeholders, creating and/or editing original, published content and materials, conducting analysis on research trends and other information to strengthen proposals, gathering information in preparation for budget planning
  • Experience with drafting for large complex proposal development initiatives.
  • Experience writing successfully funded proposals for submission.
  • Demonstrated success in securing grant funding from government agencies or foundations.
  • Ability to foster cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts Ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Tact and sensitivity in dealing with varied clientele
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills with the ability to translate complex academic projects into accessible, compelling narratives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
