Position Summary:
Working on large ships, tugboats, and barges, the Steelworker Supervisor evaluates, directs, andexecutes the fabrication, installation, and welding of various parts/materials.
Responsibilities:
Promote adherence to
safety protocols
among team members and participate in accidentinvestigations, implement corrective actions, address safety hazard.
Communicate work plans/instructions, allocate work to support the project schedule,weekly and biweekly.
Supervise, lead, train, and manage allotted manpower:
Conduct regular performance evaluations for team performance-related issues in a timely and constructive manner.
Read/interpret drawings and specifications to understand the scope of work.
Oversee and complete timecards for team members, ensuring accuracy and proper allocation of hours.
Participate in the recruitment process, joining interviews, providing feedback, and assisting with job description development
Oversee and assist with the following duties:
Operate manual and semi-automatic Stick, Flux-Core, MIG and TIG welders to fuse metal segments
Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
Operate or assist with the use of metal shaping machines such as shears, brakes and other straightening or bending up/ take down/maintain welding equipment
Other duties as required.
Qualifications &
Experience:
Minimum 5 year’s experience in a Steelworker supervisor role in a construction or maintenance settings
Minimum 5 years of Welding/Fitting experience
Strong understanding of various welding techniques
Ability to
operate various fabrication equipment
Strong
communication
and interpersonal skills
Ship repair experience preferred
CWB Certified is preferred
