We are seeking an experienced Steel Fabrication Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our steel fabrication operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production, supervising fabrication teams, ensuring quality and safety standards, and delivering projects on time and on budget.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with a strong background in structural steel fabrication and shop management.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily steel fabrication operations
- Supervise shop personnel, including welders, fitters, machine operators, and forepersons
- Review drawings, specifications, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication
- Ensure compliance with TSSA, CWB, and applicable safety standards
- Manage production schedules to meet delivery deadlines
- Oversee quality control processes and resolve production issues
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and purchasing teams
- Monitor labour, materials, and shop efficiency to control costs
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and productivity
- Train, mentor, and evaluate fabrication staff
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5–10 years experience in structural steel fabrication
- Prior experience in a supervisory or management role preferred
- Strong knowledge of welding procedures, fabrication methods, and shop equipment
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of TSSA regulations and CWB requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Proficient with production planning, scheduling, and ERP systems
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
Education & Certifications (Preferred)
- Trade certification or technical diploma in welding, fabrication, or engineering
- CWB Welding Supervisor certification (an asset)
- Health & Safety certification (e.g., supervisory safety training)
