Role Summary:
Our Burnaby, BC Branch is looking for an experienced Sprinkler Fitter to join the team. This is a great opportunity for an independent, self starter Technician. A Sprinkler Fitter Technician specializes in the areas of maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installation of sprinkler systems. The technician is crucial to ensuring that fire sprinkler systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with local codes and standards.

Key Job Responsibilities:

    Installation
    : Install new sprinkler systems according to the design specifications and ensure they meet all local, provincial, and national codes and standards.

    Inspections and Maintenance
    : Perform regular inspection and maintenance checks on existing sprinkler systems to ensure they are functioning properly and meeting their intended functionality.

    Repair/Service
    : Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair issues with sprinkler systems to ensure system integrity. Availability for emergency on-call service

    Troubleshooting
    : Root cause identification of sprinkler system failures, taking the appropriate actions to rectify the problem.

    Customer Service
    : Provides excellent customer service by answering questions, explaining the work being performed, and offering maintenance tips.

    Documentation
    : Maintains accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and installations. Ensuring all documentation is in compliance with AHJ requirements.

    Safety Compliance
    : Ensures all work is performed in accordance with company, provincial and local safety standards.

    Inventory Management
    : Keeps track of inventory levels of spare parts and equipment

    Other duties as required.

This role is a unionized position, and the successful candidate must be able to join the Local Union 170.

Qualifications (Certifications & Experience)
    High School Diploma or GED
    Sprinkler Fitter Journeyman Certification (BC) – Red Seal, BC Journeyman accepted with ability to obtain Red Seal immediately
    ASTTBC Registered Fire Protection Technician (RFPT) with WA endorsement
    Minimum of 5 years of experience working with fire sprinkler systems
    Demonstrated inspection & testing experience on water-based systems (wet, dry, deluge, standpipe, etc.)
    Backflow certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire
    ITM (Inspection, Testing & Maintenance) Training, preferred

Requirements (Skills & Capabilities)
    Strong working knowledge of NFPA, BC Fire Code, and Building Codes
    Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
    Proficient with tools, testing equipment, and inspection software
    Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    High attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance
    Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
    Excellent communication and customer service skills
    Self-motivated with a results driven mindset
    Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile work order systems
    Valid driver’s license

The hourly pay rate for this role is $49.76.
