About the Role
We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and motivated Spatial Data Analyst to support our geospatial data processing and analysis workflows. This position is ideal for university students who are passionate about GIS, remote sensing, Python development, and solving real-world spatial problems. You will work with both raster (imagery) and vector datasets, using industry‑standard GIS tools alongside custom Python-based solutions.
This role is in person at our Calgary office.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, analyze, and manage geospatial datasets including aerial imagery and vector files.
- Use standard GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar tools for data cleaning and spatial analysis.
- Run Python scripts and possible custom geospatial tools using standard available libraries
- Perform quality checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Support the development of automated workflows for spatial data processing.
- Document methodologies and maintain organized datasets and project files.
- Collaborate with team members both in person and virtually.
- Assist with occasional fieldwork or on‑site data verification as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a university, college, or post-secondary program related to Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with GIS concepts, spatial data formats, and common geoprocessing workflows.
- Experience using GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure high data quality.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in both remote and on‑site environments.
- Strong communication skills for documenting work and sharing results with the team.
Preferred (but not required) Skills
- Experience with remote sensing or image classification
- Familiarity with automation tools or version control (e.g., Git).
- Understanding of projections, coordinate systems, and spatial statistics.
- Coursework or project experience involving large geospatial datasets.
- Experience with Python programming
