About Zlenox

Zlenox is a Canadian health technology company building ZHERP — a cloud-based Healthcare Enterprise Resource Planner for senior living and long-term care facilities. ZHERP brings Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Human Resources Management (HRM), and Resident Relationship Management (CRM) into a single platform, replacing the fragmented legacy systems most facilities still rely on today.

We are a small, focused team building a real product for a sector that genuinely needs better software. Our codebase is clean, our stack is deliberately lean, and we move fast without unnecessary process overhead.

The Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team remotely from Nigeria. You will work directly on ZHERP — contributing to new features, fixing bugs, improving performance, and helping bring the product to its first customers.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You will be writing code daily, collaborating closely with the founding team, and taking ownership of discrete features end-to-end.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Building and shipping new features across the Django backend and HTMX/Alpine.js frontend
• Writing clean, well-tested Python and Django code against PostgreSQL
• Implementing UI components using HTMX and Alpine.js with Tailwind CSS utility classes
• Reviewing and improving existing code — performance, readability, and security
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to technical discussions
• Integrating third-party APIs and services (billing, analytics, clinical data standards)

Tech Stack

• Backend: Python, Django, PostgreSQL
• Frontend: HTMX, Alpine.js, Tailwind CSS — no React, no Vue, no heavy JS framework
• Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Linux environments
• Tools: Git, standard Django tooling (Django ORM, Django REST Framework, Celery)

What We're Looking For

Required

• Solid Django experience — you have built and shipped production Django applications and are comfortable navigating an unfamiliar codebase
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; you write readable, maintainable code and understand Django's ORM well
• Experience with HTMX, Alpine.js, and Tailwind CSS — or strong enough HTML/CSS/JS fundamentals to pick them up quickly (the patterns are straightforward)
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimization, migrations
• Comfortable working independently and asynchronously across time zones
• Reliable internet connection and availability to overlap with the Canadian Eastern Time zone for daily standups and collaboration

Nice to Have

• Experience with healthcare software, EMR/EHR systems, or data-sensitive regulated environments
• Familiarity with REST API design and third-party API integrations
• Experience with Celery for async task processing
• Prior remote work experience with a North American or European company

Working Hours & Communication

This is a fully remote role based in Nigeria. We work asynchronously by default, with a required daily overlap window during Canadian Eastern Time business hours for standups and team calls. We use written communication heavily — clear, concise writing matters as much as clean code.

Compensation

₦300,000 – ₦900,000 per month, depending on experience. Specific placement within the range will be discussed during the interview process.
