Role Description The Site Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Nova Scotia, Canada. This position oversees daily construction activities on assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with design specifications and quality standards. The Site Superintendent coordinates and supervises site crews and subcontractors, manages site logistics, and monitors progress against project plans and budgets. Responsibilities include enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting site inspections, resolving on-site issues, and communicating regularly with project managers, clients, and consultants. The role also involves reviewing drawings, organizing material and equipment deliveries, maintaining site documentation, and supporting a collaborative, professional work environment.
Qualifications

  • Strong construction site management skills, including supervision of trades, scheduling, and coordination of subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts, with attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Sound knowledge of building codes, health and safety regulations, and best practices in commercial and institutional construction.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, suppliers, and on-site teams.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with experience handling on-site challenges and change orders.
  • Competence in using construction management software, digital documentation tools, and basic office applications.
  • Several years of progressive experience in construction supervision or site management, preferably with a general contractor.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and professional conduct on job sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites within Nova Scotia as required.
