This course examines ethical issues relating to artificial intelligence (AI), such as algorithmic bias, explainability and accountability in AI decision-making, trust in AI systems, relationships between humans and AI, the effects of AI on human labour, and the alignment between AI and human values.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in-hand, preferably in philosophy.
  • Prior experience as a course instructor, preferably in Philosophy at U of T.
  • Advanced prior knowledge of the subject matter of the course and topic-related teaching experience.
  • Related research and a record of research achievement is considered an asset to this position.
  • Duties and responsibilities: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.

    Appointment Dates: September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026

    Note: All positions involve completion of any course grading not already finished by December, 2026.
