Course description
:
Diversityof structure and function in animals at the tissue and organ system level. Focus is on morphology and processes that sustain life and maintain homeostasis, including water balance, gas exchange, acquisition and transport of oxygen and nutrients, temperature regulation, electrical and chemical signal transmission, sensory processing, and locomotion. Principles and mechanisms of animal form and function are developed in lectures and laboratories.
Estimated TA support:1330 total hours- to be adjusted according to actual enrolment
Class schedule (tentative):Lectures Mon 8:00-10:00 Practicals/Tutorials Tues-Thurs 14:00-17:00, Thurs 9:00-12:00- see for updates to schedule
Sessional dates of appointment:Sep 1 – Dec 31, 2024
Salary (In accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement):
Effective September 1, 2023:
All pay rates areinclusiveof vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications:The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.
Description of duties:Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours. Completion of all grades (may include make-up exams).
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE
3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
