About the role
This is a full-time, on-site contract role with a large federal institution in Ottawa, running for 2 years with a planned start date of May 25, 2026. You will be working 37.5 hours per week with no remote option. The role sits under the Senior Manager, Service Desk.
You will be central to a Windows 11 device refresh program, handling everything from imaging and Autopilot deployment to user support and secure device retirement. This is a hands-on, people-facing IT role in a high-compliance, security-cleared environment. Strong customer service instincts matter as much as technical ability here.
What you will be doing
- Deploy Windows 11 laptops via Microsoft Managed Desktop, including Autopilot enrollment and configuration profiles
- Set up workstations including unboxing, assembling docks and peripherals, and staging hardware
- Migrate user data and profiles from legacy devices to new laptops using approved tools and processes
- Support users during and after deployment, covering login assistance, orientation, and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate asset records in inventory systems, including device assignment, status, and lifecycle tracking
- Retire legacy devices through secure data wipes and prepare hardware for disposal or redeployment
- Verify that all devices meet security and compliance requirements, including encryption, patching, and policy checks, before and after deployment
What we are looking for
- Degree or diploma in information technology
- 1 or more years of experience in an IT service desk or operations environment
- 3 or more years of customer service experience, ideally in a professional or enterprise setting
- 3 or more years working with Microsoft O365
- Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels of a large organization
- Bilingual in English and French
- Security clearance eligible
