One of our client looking for a Senior Steel Fabricator & CWB MCAW Welder. The role involves proficiently executing skilled duties, including reading blueprints, reading welding drawings, preparing cutting lists, marking steel based on measurements, punching steel holes by operating brake press, drilling steel, and maintaining equipment. Additionally, this position encompasses
quality control
of steel, training, and supervising junior employees.
Responsibilities
Accurately welding materials according to CWB standards, referencing welding drawings for
precision
.
Holding a valid CWB Welder Qualification card for MCAW Flat Classification S.
Reading and interpreting structural steel fabrication shop drawings and blueprints.
Generating cutting lists and assigning responsibilities for the team.
Utilizing blueprints to cut, mark, punch, or drill steel to meet specifications.
Assembling steel structures in the shop, including platforms and ballast mounts as required.
Providing training and supervision to junior employees to ensure correct task execution.
Ensuring work orders are prepared and ready for the galvanization process
Conducting regular maintenance on fabrication machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Keeping the office updated on project timelines and effectively managing lead times for orders.
Qualifications
2 to 4 years of related experience in related industry or area.
Prior experience with bandsaw, press punch, drill, magnetic drill, grinder and other shop handheld tools.
Prior experience with FCAW or MCAW welding Current or former CWB welding license holder
Knowledge and
hands-on
application of the following is required: fabrication practices and procedures, maintenance, and repair work,
material handling
equipment and their use.
Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance to WHMIS, working at heights and general health and safety protocol is required.
Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to: (a) fluctuating heat and cold temperatures; (b) some noise associated with forklifts and other power equipment; (c) some electrical hazards; and (d) WHMIS chemicals
PPE safety equipment must be worn and precautions exercised.
Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly throughout an 8 hour shift.
