Location: Toronto, Canada

Lightspeed is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Instore Selling team. In this role, you’ll own the point‑of‑sale and accounting space, creating intuitive experiences that enhance merchants’ day‑to‑day work through iterative design and delivery.
We’re seeking an experienced Product Designer comfortable with autonomy and proactiveness, with a proven track record of simplifying complex workflows into clear, user‑friendly interfaces that seamlessly integrate with other systems.
What you’ll do:
- Lead project work from a design perspective with autonomy and authority, facilitating design reviews and working sessions to help the teams deliver the best possible solutions
- Leverage your UX expertise and deep understanding of design systems, UI design, and how micro‑interactions can help users complete a task
- Proactively find ways to contribute during backend‑heavy phases – whether that’s sharpening specs, running exploratory research, building alignment across teams, or getting ahead of future design work before it’s formally scoped
- Turn nebulous concepts into specific ideas that are useful and delightful product features
- Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and user‑friendly
- Oversee UX and UI from conception to launch
- Understand how to best use the current design system to ensure consistency across platforms and contribute to its continuous improvement
- Draw insights from research and data, and know how to turn those insights into tangible solutions
- Build relationships and advocate for the user when collaborating with cross‑functional teams in product, engineering, and marketing
- Explore and integrate AI and emerging technologies to shape new approaches
- Be a positive role model and culture carrier within the studio as well as an advocate for design within the Lightspeed organization
What you need to bring:
- A design‑thinking education or equivalent (Design, Visual Arts, Architecture, Industrial Design, or Communication)
- At least 5 years of practical, in‑house product, UX/UI design experience
- Excellent communication skills. You can bring internal stakeholders on your design journey and explain work with focus and brevity
- Excellent visualization and conceptual skills. You can synthesize something complex into something simple and aesthetic
- Experience working across all digital and physical manifestations of what we design – from the responsive web to native applications to the next technological leap
- Comfort working in technically complex environments. You don’t need to write code, but you’re not intimidated by architecture docs, data models, or engineering discussions
- Fluency in use of design systems, prototyping, and user research methodologies
- An acute level of self‑awareness and deep empathy – for both the customer and your team’s goals
- A deep curiosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision. You don’t just care about “how it looks,” or “what we should design,” but “why are we designing this at all?”
- A curiosity to continuously evolve your design process by leveraging AI tools to deliver better, more user‑centered products
What’s in it for you?
- Ability to do your job in a truly flexible environment
- Genuine career opportunities in a company that’s creating new jobs every day
- Work in a team big enough for growth but lean enough to make a real impact
- Lightspeed share scheme (we are all owners)
- Flexible working policy
- Health and wellness benefit of $500 per year
- Paid leave and assistance for new parents
- Mental health online platform and counselling & coaching services
We reasonably expect the total compensation for this position to be in the range of $120,000-$140,000 CAD
